West Bloomfield (WWJ) -- It happened for the second time in seven days, at about the same time. A gas leak forced the evacuation of Eagle Elementary School on 14 Mile and Middlebelt in West Bloomfield Wednesday morning. A gas leak was also reported last Wednesday.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 9 a.m. after workers smelled fumes in the school. Farmington Public Schools officials say there was a smell of gas and the normal procedure is to take students to nearby Warner Middle School.
Children who hadn't arrived at school were being kept on buses.
A Consumers Energy spokeswoman said there was a small leak in a meter. It was capped and students were back in class by 10 a.m.
There were no reports of injuries.
